How to edit a PDF online

You do not need a paid editor to annotate a PDF. Adding a note, a signature or a highlight works directly in the browser.

Go straight to the PDF editor if you already know what to do.

Step-by-step

  1. 1

    Open the editor

Go to the edit tool and add your PDF. Page previews appear once it loads.

  2. 2

    Choose a tool

Pick text to type on the page, draw for freehand marks and signatures, or highlight to emphasise a passage.

  3. 3

    Make your changes

Work page by page. Marks are placed exactly where you click or drag.

  4. 4

    Save and download

Export the annotated PDF; your edits are flattened into the downloaded file.

Things worth knowing

Editing existing text

Original page text cannot be retyped. You add new content on top, which is what most form filling and reviewing needs.

Signing a document

The draw tool works with a mouse, trackpad or finger, so a signature can be added from a phone.

Reordering pages

For page-level changes such as moving or deleting pages, use the organize tool instead.
